I can’t say I remember seeing actual trees growing right out of sand – like… full on trees. But there they were in Cairns. While photographing one of the 2014 Cairns Ironman athletes along a lightly trafficked portion of Captain Cook Highway, I took a break to take in my surroundings. I don’t think it requires much convincing when I say that this was one of the most tranquil locations that I’ve ever been to. It was simply beautiful.

I took this photo with my Sony A7 and FE 70-200 lens. Now that I have all of my photos imported into my production Lightroom catalog back at home, I edited it in Analog Efex Pro 2, part of the Nik Collection by Google along with some slight Lightroom adjustments..
