Despite having the week off, my mind is beginning to race a bit with the travel that I’ve got coming up starting on Monday, which kicks off a 3-week trek to Cairns (Australia), Mountain View, Germany, and back home to New York City. There is no doubt that I’ve covered more miles in these five months of 2014 than in all my life and I’m super thankful for it because it has let me see parts of the world that I might not have had the opportunity to otherwise.

But, I think I’m happy turning to this perfectly serene sunrise taken at Crescent Head in Australia. I’m really looking forward to returning there next week to photograph the Cairns Ironman competition with my great mate, Lauren Bath (who was actually just off to my left when I took this photo) and a small handful of other talented photographers from around the globe. Not too shabby.

As far as taking this photo, I used my Sony A7 and Sony FE 24-70 f/4 lens with a 3-stop soft grad ND filter by the awesome folks at Formatt-Hitech. Stylization was achieved in Analog Efex Pro 2, part of the Nik Collection by Google.
