A Simple Kind of Life

I remember spotting this solitary tree as I was leaving an area of Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island of Hawaii and knew that pulled off to the side had to happen. I’m always on the hunt for solitary trees that are sitting on a horizon line or in a field with nothing else nearby. The clouds were moving through the sky at a good clip and all I needed to do was wait a bit for a patch of blue sky to show before nabbing my keeper.

You make a good point. I'm always disappointed when I can't find that solitary tree when I'm out shooting. Maybe the key is to always be on the lookout. It seems so easy to find but it's not. Nice shot here.

You just cant beat images of solitary tree's I have found a silver birch locally that comes only 2 feet out of the ground before the truck twists just above the ground for some 10 feet or so before carrying on upwards, I need to get out there.
