I had about 30 minutes before the sun would hit the horizon on this lovely day at Garrapata State Park in Big Sur. As I made my way out to the farthest point that I could reach, I noticed this wonderful little pool that had formed by a rock wall that separated it from the ocean. I thought it’d be interesting to juxtapose the natural glassiness of this little pool against the smoothness of the ocean created with a long exposure. I took one exposure to get the detail of the rocks, another for the ocean, and a third for the pool. I then masked the three together in post and really enjoyed the outcome. The best part is that I still had about 10 minutes left to exposure before it was time to capture the sun hitting the horizon.
