Sunrise over the Barossa Valley

Seriously, every time I think I’ve seen the loveliest parts of Australia, she goes ahead and one ups herself. This morning, I woke up to what had to be the prettiest sunrise that I’ve ever seen. What made it even better was that it only required that I walk just off of the patio of my hotel room at the wonderful The Louise, nestled right in Barossa Valley.

The problem with so many of the sunrises that I’ve witnessed is that the light and color turns south so quickly whereas this particular sunrise kept bringing more complex and interesting colors, tones and shapes in the sky. It also didn’t hurt that when I did an about-face, we were greeted to a full on double-rainbow right over our hotel room. Pics of that to follow. :)

Very little done here other than some minor edits in Lightroom 4.3

Wait until you do the great Ocean Rd +Brian Matiash.  If you've loved it all so far, you're in for a very nice surprise!

Great work. I've always loved these kind of shots that show a single tree silhouetted against a dramatic sky. I'm glad I live in a place that has a few more trees than that in it, but I do love that shot. :)
