My take on a familiar landmark

My take on a familiar landmark

Despite being in Sydney for only one day before flying off to Tasmania, Nicole S. Young and I would be remiss if we didn’t at least go down to the Circular Quay to see the world famous Sydney Opera House. I think it’s safe to say that most of us have seen this iconic structure. Elia Locardi even had a photowalk recently swarm this location. So, it’s safe to say that the challenge you should issue yourself is how can you put your own stamp on it?

I decided to go with this tight crop, focusing on creating the impression of shark fins. I also wanted to go with a stark B&W conversion, letting shape and form sit in the driver seat despite having a gloriously cloudy blue sky. In the end, I walked away with a memory of Sydney that I can truly look back fondly on. And one thing is for certain: +Australia is an absolutely gorgeous country and we’ve only been here for a day!

In terms of processing
Aside from the tight crop and tonality settings in Lightroom 4.3, the heavy lifting was done in +onOne Software Perfect B&W.

A very difficult building to photograph, especially if you are only there for a short time due to the fact that it so so famous … I like your approach here and the moody B+W PP works well ….
