Matt Kloskowski and I made it to Bandon last night with little idea of what sort of view we’d wake up to. Given the proximity of our hotel room to the beach, we had the luxury of waking up a few minutes before we actually intended on shooting. Our hotel overlooks a gorgeous expanse of beach, ocean and haystack rocks. After taking a few minutes to shoot from the balcony, we made our way downstairs and shot through sunrise.

This is the first image I started working on and I’m a fan of it because of the natural layering that I saw based on the alignment of these rocks. I’m always looking for exactly this sort of visual cue when attempting to make something out of all that is in front of me.

In terms of processing
Everything done to this image was applied in the Develop Module of Lightroom 4.3. I didn’t want to go overboard with the stylization so I just brought out some of the tone and added warmth to the sky while adding a cooler temp to the foreground.
