After spending the better part of a week hustling around Death Valley, slinging my camera every which way, I have to say that touching down in PDX was a very sweet moment. I know I’ve expressed my love of Portland but as they say about absence and its impact of the fondness of hearts.
So, while I am enjoying the wonderful work that my compatriots are posting from our Death Valley trip, I figured I’d share this little staple of the Portland skyline. During the holiday season, the reindeer is adorned with a cute, red light on its nose. :)

So yeah… the original sky in this image was oh so boring. So, I used +onOne Software Perfect Mask 5.2 to mask it out and replaced it with a different sky. I also used the radial blur filter in Photoshop CS6 to give it this sense of motion that you see. Then, I converted to black and white using Perfect B&W. Final touches were applied in Lightroom 4.3.
