Lake Tahoe

I was just sitting here, thinking of the amazing times that I was lucky enough to enjoy this year. One of my favorite things about winding down a year is going back through my photo catalog – not so much to find images to edit but rather to let the memories of those days flood through my mind. It’s a cathartic practice, I think. It gives me an opportunity to appreciate what the year has given me while also setting me up to start the upcoming year anew.

This image was taken at Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe, CA with Karen Hutton – one of the most amazing people that I’ve met through Google+. You likely already know Karen but if you don’t. you owe it to yourself to invest some time and drop her a message saying Hi. Karen is a juggernaut of creativity, inspiration, and love. She’s the sort of friend who you’d do just about anything for to help out because you know she’d do the same for you without blinking.

My wife took a picture at what must be this exact location many years ago.  I'm going to have to grab that picture and compare it to yours.  If you are interested I can scan the print and upload it…

Congrats on a great year for you, Brian. Both personally and professionally.
Here are my top 12 from 2012:

I definitely miss shooting with you, and your name came up more than once while I shot the mills with Dave Wilson.

    Here's to a Productive and Prosperous 2013!

Driven by Vikingsholm hundreds of times, but never bothered to stop for a shot.  Want to this winter, but we'll see.  Been thinking about how my photography has changed this year, and looking forward to putting it down on paper (digitally, anyway).  :)

I believe I have the same practice, especially now that I do not live in Tahoe where your photo was taken.  Although I still live nearby, I cannot just drive out to nature and all the amazing vista's that Tahoe has to offer when I need a cathartic fix . . . now I must find it at my fingertips instead, unless I have a couple hours to spare.
