The End of Day Travels

The End of Day Travels

Things are finally starting to come together in the new home. I’ve got the office up and running and the internet is flowing through the veins of the house. It’s so nice to have a place that truly feels like my own. This is the first time in the 34 years that I’ve been alive that I’ve lived in a house that wasn’t attached in some way to someone else’s home. So, when I was installing the VESA mount for my TV last night at 11PM, I hadn’t a care in the world. :)

As for this image, I just wanted to share something and say Howdy to all y’all. I nabbed this shot as the sun was settings in Valley of Fire this past September. I was especially fond of the way the road bisects the land. It had me inspired by Barry Blanchard and his wonderful series of desert roads. We’ll get out there together soon enough, brother. I’m sure of it.

In terms of processing

This is a seven exposure tone-mapped HDR image using Photomatix Pro.

I applied a small amount of Golden Hour Enhancer to the entire image and a customer Tone Enhancer to the foreground. I also cooled off the top of the sky with a Blue filter. All in Perfect Effects 4 by onOne Software.

Final touches were applied in Lightroom 4.3.

A rare seen swelican( a name derived from the mating of swans and pelicans) On it's death flight over the desert……..That's how I'd have to explain this if I were standing there looking up at these clouds with my grandkids………and it would make since………….Great shot. I bet you could sit here 24/7 and never exhaust the subject matter.

Very nice Brian. Do you still use Lightroom for tone-mapping as opposed to Photomatix? Does it depend on the type of image? Some of your OnOne Inspiration videos you used Lightroom, but others were Photomatix. Anyway, thanks for sharing!
