The Naga of Wat Ek Phnom

I remember being so thankful to have access to this Wat. The sun was out in full force and I was positively soaked from the heat and from carrying a full complement of gear in my F-Stop Satori EXP bag. I was cooling off in the shade provided by this wat when I noticed this cool pattern of shapes, leading lines and colors. These naga play a huge role in the architecture of the wats dotting the Cambodian landscape. I was happy to have the opportunity to find such ornate ones that have been preserved in good condition.

In terms of processing

This is a seven exposure tone-mapped HDR image, processed in Photomatix Pro. Using onOne Software Perfect Effects 4, I masked in Cyberpunk onto the blue in the stairs and on the naga and applied Return of the King to the rest of the scene.

Final touches were applied in Lightroom 4.3 RC.

Wow. That's a stunner, Brian. I hope to be in Siem Riep in June and Ek Phnom is on our route. Did you have to do anything special (or be somebody special) to get access?

+Jeff Hirsch Cheers! Nothing special other than paying the entrance fee. I think it was $3.
