Goodnight, Gorge

The Story

I’m in the process of swapping in 3TB hard drives in my Drobo 5D and each one requires about 6 hours of healing. That’s just fine by me because I’ve got some serious catching up to do with some of my TV shows. In the meantime, I also wanted to share a shot of the sun setting over the beautiful Columbia River Gorge taken in June. How can you ever get tired of photographing this place?

In terms of processing

This is a seven exposure HDR image tone-mapped in Photomatix Pro.

I applied Magic Sunset, Orton Hears A Who, and a custom Tonal Contrast effect using Perfect Effects 4 by onOne Software.

Final touches were applied in Lightroom 4.3 RC.

Can I ask what kind of camera was used for this shot? The detail on this is absolutely perfect. Not easy to do on a sunset, to put it mildly.

Cannot argue with your results.  I need to make time to learn more about my onOne Suite.  You have so many great tutorials… that's what I need to watch instead of a tv show!

At least Brian knows to say: "HDR shot processed with Tonemapping"….  People who say they hate HDR are not photographers in my mind… they are too ignorant    Learn the difference between HDR and Tonemapping before opening your mouth! — My rant for today…
