The counterweight of a Phnom Penh sunset

The counterweight of a Phnom Penh sunset

The Story

It seems fitting to post an image from one of my first days in Phnom Penh about two weeks ago as we begin our last day here in the beautiful country of Cambodia. We took this from a rooftop as the sun began to set. While the scene itself would have been beautiful enough to photograph, I instantly fell in love with this one dark, looming cloud that decided to rain on the parade, as it were.

My trip to Cambodia has been filled with so many enriching experiences and memories and it has only served to whet my appetite for more extensive travel. I am truly looking forward to sharing more visual memories from this trip with all of you in the coming weeks and months.

In terms of processing

This is a seven exposure tone-mapped HDR image using Photomatix Pro.

I applied some Tonal Contrast to the city foreground and a custom warming effect onto the sky. I also added a tiny bit of Hollywood Glow to add a soft contrast boost. All done in Perfect Effects 4 by onOne Software.

Very nice and you are right about the cherry on top, even if it rained from it.

you sure you didn't use Perfect Clouds 1 on this? :)  All kidding aside this is awesome – that one cloud hanging there is incredible.
