Sunrise In Phnom Penh

The Story

One of the advantages of having your room one floor below the roof of a pagoda-style hotel is how easy it is to run up to capture a moody sunrise. My body clock is still pretty out of whack so finding myself awake a few hours before sunrise is a welcome thing.

Yesterday, we explored the absolutely wonderful Kilo Lek Buon Market and partook in a cooking class where we learned to make two traditional [read: absolutely delicious] Cambodian dishes.
Today, we’re exploring the Russian Market and possibly some massages. The heavy lifting of shooting is yet to come. Battambang and Siem Riep are yet to  come!

So far, this trip to Cambodia is proving to be so wonderful. The people and the country they occupy are both beautiful and so vibrant. More images to come!

In terms of processing

This is a seven exposure HDR image tone-mapped in Photomatix Pro.

Stylization was done in Perfect Effects 4 by onOne Software. I added Radiance and Deep Forest glows as well as Tonal Contrast masked on the lower half of the image (covering the foliage and buildings).

Final touches were applied in Lightroom 4.2
