Hitting the archive hard

The Story

Man, I do love digging through the archives when I’m trying to clear my head. This is a shot taken a while back in Wilkes-Barre, PA. I loved the way this streak of concrete busted all the way out towards the vanishing point. Just wanted to share it out. Hope everyone is having a great evening/afternoon/morning!

In terms of processing

Definitely had some fun between the tone-mapping (using Photomatix Pro) and stylization (using +onOne Software Perfect Effects 4). Grunge Goddess takes the cake here and I Got The Blues was masked onto that strip of concrete.

The shallow depth of field was simulated with FocalPoint 2. I’m on the fence with how good of a job I did here but I think it certainly lends itself by establishing more suspense.

Final touches were applied in Lightroom 4.2.

i really like how the line divides two really different buildings both in terms of colors and textures – it's almost like one side is B&W and the other in color.

I always love going through my archive. I often forget I have a whole body of work that existed before G+, images that are on Flickr or my website, but not here. Makes me feel like I can share all these old images here in a completely new way because most people haven't seen them yet.
